Kyla + Adrian // Malibu blue beach wedding at Fripp Island Resort in Saint Helena, SC

Kyla + Adrian balance each other out perfectly and share a truly deep connection with one another that is extremely obvious when you see these two in a room together. After meeting and moving to Charleston, SC earlier this year this is a couple that sacrifices a lot to be with each other. I have to admit the bride and I sparked a nice little friendship after she found some crafts on Pinterest but claims to not be “crafty” so we spent some Sunday’s together crafting and she did a lot of prep work so that on the day of the wedding it was pretty easy for myself and staff to set up. I have to give this bride a lot of credit, she thought of everything and boy what a relief that was on wedding day. Kyla found an arch that she was in love with but we couldn’t find it so with the help of a local lumber company (Ashley River Lumber) and some trees from a friends farm we were even able to make that happen and it was beyond gorgeous. So now that everything was in place we loaded up the trailer and headed to Fripp Island and it was finally the day of the wedding (YAY) after a gorgeous sunny morning of hair and make up it was finally time for Kyla and Adrian to see each other for the first time for their first look. Away from the venue they found a secluded area. Kyla walked up behind Adrian and tapped him on the shoulder and when he turned around… the look on his face was the kind of expression every girl dreams of; a look of total and utter amazement. After a few more pictures it was time for the ceremony. The weather was absolutely amazing and I have to say that with a hurricane that came just a few (and I mean just a few) weeks prior we were a little nervous but we could not have asked for a better day! So we have the bridal party all lined up and with Adrian now on the beach for ceremony waiting and Kyla with her father sharing a few last laughs before heading down the aisle. Even with doing a first look I have to say that it did not take away from the ambiance of Adrian seeing Kyla walk down the aisle in front of their closest family and friends which gave everyone “all the feels” after seeing his face. After the “I do’s” and a sand ceremony everyone headed up to the pavilion deck for cocktail hour. A week prior to their wedding Kyla’s stepmom reached out to me because she had a big surprise for the bride. Little bit of back story, Kyla and Adrian are art enthusiasts and the bride’s stepmom crossed paths with Joe Everson who finishes a painting while singing the national anthem, it was extremely moving. It was very lively and fun reception to say the least and it ended with Kyla and Adrian leaving through a tunnel of sparklers as they drove off to their “official after party” on a decorated golf cart.

Becca and Jon // Boho navy blue and magenta wedding at the Old Santee Canal Park in Moncks Corner, SC

Becca and Jon have a very pure kind of love and are truly best friends, they are constantly making each other laugh. For their wedding I have to admit that they made me rethink the way a “typical” wedding is and made me think outside the box a little bit which I really enjoyed and I feel that it made me a better wedding coordinator. During our first consultation honestly I was making suggestions that they really weren’t digging and then finally it clicked that the wanted their wedding to be a chill relaxed gathering of friends and family. So we changed out the bar, BBQ and line dances for a smores fire pit, pasta and Bon Iver indie music; and it turned out A-Mazing. It really felt like the two families became one at their wedding reception. So Becca and Jon are a very laid back couple and really just wanted to become Mr. and Mrs. and gave me some creative freedom with their wedding and for such an amazing couple I was ready to plan them the best wedding wedding ever. Typically I place the rentals order after the majority of the vendors have been booked because rentals and florals the “flex” areas so with a few adjustments to us purchasing our own fire pits and doing the lighting ourselves that put us under budget so we were able to add farmhouse tables with x-back chairs to the front lawn. This look was the perfect touch, so as a surprise for the bride and groom, I wanted to design a custom floral piece for the farm house tables. After working closely with the florist for weeks we found the perfect flowers and if you have never tried to find magenta colored flowers, let me be the first to tell you it is challenging so we had to go through 2 wholesalers but Laurie would not give up until we found exactly what we had envisioned. Including adding what is now one of my favorite florals, hanging amaranthus, it is a very romantic flower if flowers can be such a thing. To make this wedding look more complete we added folded napkins with menu card inserts, which is a very inexpensive way of taking your wedding to the next level. During the reception for dinner we had Olive Garden pasta and bread sticks (one of the bride and groom’s favorite places to eat) and let’s not kid ourselves who doesn’t love Olive Garden’s bread sticks. We did spruced it up a little bit by transferring the pans into chaffing dishes. After dinner I was little worried with it being October in South Carolina that the smores fire pits may not be utilized but boy did I have nothing to worry about, all evening the benches around the fire pits were full and everyone really enjoyed the smores. At the end of the evening we did a bubble send off down the stairs and into their luxury car to head downtown before going on a tropical honeymoon. What a lovely way to end their cozy wedding.
